What’s your Cleaning Service type?

There are 3 basic types of Cleaning services to choose from.

  1. Solo Cleaners
  2. Franchises
  3. Family-owned cleaning businesses

Choosing the right cleaning service can seem like a daunting task, here are some things to consider when choosing the best fit for your home or office.

  • Are you shopping by price or quality?
  • Are looking for a quick swipe or attention to detail?
  • Do you want a service that can provide reliability or are you okay with someone that has to cancel your appointment when they are sick, the kids are sick, vacation time, or car troubles etc.?
  • Is it important to you that they carry insurance to protect you if they are hurt while cleaning your home or office?
  • Do you take comfort in knowing that the staff that comes to clean values their job and cares about their work?

Solo cleaners can be great and provide service at a lower cost but can leave you unprotected if they are uninsured and in a lurch when they need time off. You also want to be sure they are paying taxes on what you pay them otherwise the IRS considers you their employer and you will be responsible to pay employment taxes.

Franchises come at a higher price point but are insured, will seldom miss an appointment, and pay all employee taxes. An important question to ask is, has the owner ever cleaned themselves? Why is this important? This could leave them without the hands on experience that is critical in training their help. This goes beyond the actual cleaning tasks themselves, although that is a major factor. It goes deeper into understanding the physical demands of cleaning several homes or offices a day. It’s difficult to value and appreciate what your employees do if you have not done it yourself day in and day out. Something else that is important to ask is if the cleaning is just a quick swipe, do they encourage the staff to get in and out quickly? Yes, this is a legitimate question!

Family owned cleaning businesses also come at a higher price point, are insured, will seldom miss an appointment, pay all employee taxes, and have built their businesses hands on. They love what they do, attention to detail is important and so are the people who work hard for them.
